Scrap metal

Hi all,

Few questions. I have a load of old scrap metal I have ripped out from my house as it all needs replacing properly. I plan to weigh in my copper and some lead. I've searched on here, but I can't figure out if the prices I have are 'good'? lol.

1st price I have:
Copper - £3.50 per kilo(if dirty), £4 per kilo if clean.
Lead - £0.90 per kilo
Old Rads - £150 per tonne...so next to nothing there for me! lol

I was just wondering if these prices sound any good? I'm in no rush to get shot of it really. I could hang on to it all if the prices are likely to go up at all? Of that I know we would need a crystal ball! lol

I have an old nelson tank to weigh in, along with all the pipes etc. I'm not sure on the weight of all my scrap.

Also I was wondering if I should take the old boiler along? Is that worthwhile? If anything just to get rid of it really - not sure if it would make any money? It's an old combi boiler. A lot of weight in it!!!

Any ideas / opinions would be great.
Cheers

all the non ferous metals bring fairly good money, esp copper and ally.
old iron/steel has always been poor. you need a lot of it to pay for a night out.

Thanks guys, I've just been sorting it all out and there's nowhere near as much as my builder mate suggested in terms of profit! Still it all helps! :)

On its own its worth a couple of quid. If you are making a special trip, probably best to take other stuff in as well.

To make your copper clean just cut of any joints on it, these will then be weighed seperately, most scrap yards round our way will treat it all as braziery even if it only had one joint on it.
