Nope. I don't want to tempt fate! But I have been marking pages in the Argos and Ikea catalogues in anticipation though.....

Powder is always cheaper than tablets. You also aren't forced into putting in a fixed amount of powder if you can measure it in yourself.

They even had bottles of it at the poundshop a while back - which was a great bargain - writing all in some euro-language though so I suspect most people didn't cotton on to what it was.

No idea about dishwashing, but for a washing machine the last time I bought tablets I went out to buy powder but found some tablets cheaper per 100g, they were also a lot smaller than the amount I'd have scooped out of a box, so that was a double saving!

I went out to Asda and bought £250 worth of bits and pieces, kitchen stuff mostly. Unfortunately our first purchase fell through so taken up recidence in our front room...

Might be a lesson there, but didnt want to the stress of having to get everything at once once we moved in (FTB's)!!

Powder’s cheaper cos you can be stingy wiv it!

You need very little. If the stuff is quite clean, none at all.

Otherwise I get the butler to do it by hand. (the dishes that is) :)

Funny enough, I'm househunting at the moment and one of my main criteria is that it must have space for a dishwasher. My current place doesn't and washing up it's my least favourite domestic task.

I haven't been tempted to buy any tablets or powder yet though.

I didn't have a dishwasher till I moved 5 years ago and hand washing the dishes did not bother me but there is no way I would want to go back to hand washing now I'm used to having it washed by the dishwasher.

I bought a fridge freezer in a sale before my house purchase went through. Luckily I was able to store it at work... as then the purchase fell through, and the place I ended up buying came with appliances! At least I made £10 profit selling the fridge freezer on ebay :-)

Yup, tablets and those pouches are definitely not the MSE way! They are obviously designed to ensure that people use more than they need.

I recently got those "Bloo" cistern blocks ay Dyas - completely waste of time for somebody like me (single person) since they dissolve in a month, whereas a rim block would last many times longer. Obviously for the Bloo people they guarantee a regular purchase of one a month no matter how many times you flush.
