Only thing I can think is it could be something like a split breather pipe, this would let out oil fumes that could potentially be sucked in through the blower.
Knowing which car it is may help someone with knowledge of the model offer more specific advice.0 -

I noticed an oily smell in my friend's car, when I pointed it out to me he laughed and told me I was imagining it. A few days later I had a call from him asking if he was covered on his insurance for the damage a leaking oil bottle in his boot had caused to his seats. He basically had a can of oil in the boot and had not put the lid on properly, it had fallen over and spilt oil over the seats and carpets. Luckily he was covered as it cost circa £800 to replace the damaged items.0

i dont keep anything like that in my car.
I did notice when putting the oil in the cap was all yellow gunge stuff i got told thats a bad sign!!!!!0 -
Yellow gunge stuff isn't necessarily a bad sign. It could just be the current cold weather and shortish journeys meaning it never completely boils off water/condensation in the oil, plus I am guessing a faulty thermostat (costs under a tenner) can contribute to it. I went to a garage recently concerned about mayo under my filler cap, and they tested for exhaust gasses in the coolant - and found nothing. Now I have given the cooling system a good go over and found something that looks remarkably like oil in the cooling system :S0

oil pressure switch can leak on corsas dripping oil onto exhaust manifold.0
