I was talking about actually being there over Christmas and not in one of the weekends before. I'm going back a few years now though and I know that the parks are getting busier in December. I was there for a weekend last December and it was busy, but still not as busy as being there over Hallowe'en 3 or 4 years ago.

I would never go there actually over Xmas / New Year

    have heard it's manic!

My SIL has done it twice though, mad woman even though she said it was awful one year

Give me Halloween / Oct half term definitely :)

    Hi

I know it is early but I am saving to take my daughter to Disneyland Paris next year (2011), I work in a school so restricted to school holidays so was wondering if anyone had any tips on when to go i.e. easter holidays or summer holidays or half term, how long for, best hotels, any moneysaving tips, offers to look out for as I know they often do kids under 7 stay free?

This will be the first time I take her out of the UK on holiday as a single parent so any ideas and tips appreciated as a bit nervous travelling alone. And finally she will be just over 4 when we go do you think this is too young or should I wait until older - just currently she loves all the disney princesses and want to take her whilst still young enough to believe in it all?

    Thanks in advance, Liz x

    Hi there Liz,

Your daughter will love DLP, it an amazing place for little ones and grown ups!...around winter and up til April there is under 12s go free.....then after that you have under 7s free most the time...(not all the time though I believe)....so you WILL get a good deal!...I've never paid for both my kids at the same time ever!!!:o

A really great time to go is October, its brilliant, BUT your daughter might be scared of the decorations they have and the pumpkin people that are going about, they DO NOT scare your kids on purpose or run after them but some do if they see your kid is game for it!

I usually go in winter (I'm just about to do my 7th visit)...and its really cold, this year was horrible in the weather sense, I couldn't take my gloves of for long without them crunching!!!:rotfl:But its so nice to meet Santa and see the characters all dressed up xmassy-like!

A tip I will give you and only learned this in 2009...NEVER BOOK straight away, the chances of offers coming on are pretty certain!!!....I just got 40% off for october...which is amazing!! (so much for not going back in 2010!!:D)

Hotels....well if you want to be on site, then the Santa Fe is ok, its basic like a travelodge....does the trick if you are out all day and just need a wash and a sleep, nothing wrong with it, same with the Cheyenne.

But be warned, once you go you will be hooked!!!!!;):D

    Best of luck!! xxxxxx

The best advice I can give if it is going to be an October trip is to avoid the days of the Halloween parties. The parks were great, there was lots of entertainment and everyone was up for a laugh, but I queued 20 minutes just to get through the turnstiles by guest relations (next to a man dressed as Malificent no less). Everything had ridiculous waits - the longest I've ever seen. I had a really good time, but experienced almost nothing attraction-wise and I'd hate for that to be someone's first experience. The weather was great, I can't remember what year it was (3 or 4 years ago now), but it was unseasonally warm (up to the mid 20's each day).

So my best advice would be to avoid the days that the parties are on unless you're attending, but that's pretty standard advice for anyone visiting a Disney park wherever on Earth it may be.
  • We went at feb half term two years ago and have to say it was great, fairly quite. we went for four nights. I day of rain, park almost empty, other days sunny and nice, but the day we left being a saturday park extra busy.

We stayed in santa fa and thought that it was more than enough, as your really not in it that much. Time for breakfast (included) when we got up and then a 10 mins stroll to the park (shuttle bus available).

my advise (and what i would do next time) is stay within mon-fri as quieter and would definately go at feb half term again, a bit cheaper and free child places for under 7.

    have a great time x
