repay bank overdraft

Help - if I paid my bank overdraft with numerous bank charges on it with money given to me by a relative, how would this affect my bank charges reclaim under financial hardship?

if the relative can pay bank charges for you would it not be better for them to help with repaying arrears on priority debts since that by definition would alleviate financial hardship and therefore mean that you were no longer in financial hardship?

  • Thanks, but the relative is already paying motgage and helping out with other debts and bills.

Have you spoken to the mortgage provider and with other debtors because of your difficulties because only once you have done so and they have done as much as they can do and no further(and you are still incurring charges) should the bank HAVE to look at repaying because clearly you would have done everything possible to try to sort out the issues yourself.

  • OK,

Now I have lifted my head out of the sand and decided to do something about all this mess. So here it is;-

Tried claiming bank charges back, sending a CFS back to the bank at their request, only trouble was I still had my head in the sand at that time
(In other words did not want to acknowledge the amount of debt I actually had), so with that in mind I completed their form CFS truthfully until the very last question, where it asked my to list the Creditor sheet 2 - other debts, so instead of listing them all (4) - I only listed 1.

Yet if the bank checked my accounts they would have known that I had 4 accounts with them - 2 which had overdrafts and 1 credit card which was also maxed out and 1 that my wages were paid into.

So here is my problem - they refused bank charges refund on my claim of financial hardship, but I did not show the whole picture (too embarassed at the time).

Where do I go from here? I should also mention that I did not sign the statement about the Data Protection Act. Why? - you ask - don't know? Again - head not in the right place at the time.

Why not explain the whole situation to them now?

  • Was trying to change the heading, as my question did not have anything to do with REPAYING bank overdraft, but reclaiming them.

    Does this make any sense?
