Insulating a Bay Window

I'm thinking specifically of the roof - has anyone ever done this and if so, how?
I've already got double glazing and the walls aren't cavity, but I'm willing to bet that there's no insulation at all in that little roof, given the age of the house. I don't really fancy tearing the ceiling down to get at it though!

If the roof is tiled you May be able to get to it that way. Another way would be to use expanding foam injected through a series of small holes in a grid at 10cm intervals. The foam will "mushroom" but you should find that they will overlap. Just fill the holes with polyfilla, repaint and the job's done.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

id take the bay ceiling down and do it properly. PB afterwards, is cheap and simple to do.
but its a lot of messy work for very little gain.Get some gorm.0 -

This is not advisable as there is a good chance that the foam wont fill the void evenly giving uneven insulation and this could then lead to condensation issues either in the roof void (leading to timber rot) or on the ceiling (leading to mould)
The only way is to either insert insualtion by taking the ceiling down, or the roof covering off
Given the small size of typical bays, and the fact that the OP has no wall insulation, then it may not be worth the time, effort and expense, as the payback will be minimal0 -
We took the tiles off and insulated the bays and replaced the tiles - did 2 bays in a day and replaced the felt with new breathable stuff.0
