Adding aerial socket to conservatory

Hi all

Just recently had a conservatory built and we would like an aerial socket installing. Phoned a local company who mentioned installing a freeview aerial and a cable which you can hook up directly to (they'll install it through the wall in the conservatory).

Anyone else had this problem and does this solution sound about right? Cost quoted was £55 inc vat + install+2 yr guarantee.

Cheers

thats about right neighbour next door got charged £70 to install a brand new ariel , you can put a splitter on your existing ariel and run another cable from their ,to where ever you want.

We did the splitter and ran the cable under the floor boards. You could also run it round the edge of the skirting and secure it with those little plastic cable clips.

Are you going to buy a freeview box seperately ? where are they proposing to install the aeriel ? will they test it to make sure you get a good freeview signal ?

Is £55 the complete price - or is install on top of that ?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the replies so far. £55 is the final price including install but was a bit curious on why we need a new aerial to just get another aerial connection in the conservatory. If we do have the new aerial, presumably we'll need another connection of it to supply our tv in the lounge? Also mentioned something about going direct to the cable rather than using an aerial socket as it apparently loses 20% of the signal through a socket?

Can't say I know much about this type of thing, actual cost seems fine, just want to make sure they don't make a mess of the conservatory and also the aerial reception in both rooms is ok!

    Cheers.
