Have a look here for starters. Have a look where it says Specialist cover inc. young driver, provisional & multi-car.
I'm sure there'll be others on here as well who'll be able to point you in the right direction.0 -
Agree with above post - check rates using the comparison websites. If you enter your daughter's details on a website, then get quotes for different model cars, you can see how much saving there might be.
I would have thought that you could obtain insurance for your 17yr old daughter for around £700 - if she were driving a group 1 or 2 car (small engined corsa, 106, saxo, etc), and you happen to live in a low rated area.
I paid around this for both my daughters at 17. Endsleigh and Elephant came out cheapest, if I remember.
If you had a 17 yr old son, it would be a lot more expensive again!People are more important than things0 -
adding a parent/older driver as a named driver can reduce the premium by 25%0

We recently used Quinn Direct. My daughter's driving instructor recommended them.

She's newly qualified (weeks ago) aged 20.
Fully comp on a 53 Mini One: £1400
Compared to other quotes we got this beat everything hands down.
I didn't want to go down the 'named driver' route because insurance companies are on to this one and will reduce or throw out a claim if they suspect it.
Also the named driver does not build up no claims bonus with the majority of companies as far as I know.0 -

I think Eric was suggesting puting the parent as a 'Named' driver rather than the teenager. It would then be the teenagers own insurance and would build up a 'no claims'0 -
I've just put my 17-year old learner daughter on my policy as a named driver. My original insurer wanted £3,000 and my car is only worth £500! It's insurance group 5.
I used 2 comparison sites and Admiral came top both times with quotes of £465. As I wanted to pay in instalments I ended up paying £580. Hope that helps.0 -
I'd check out Churchill as they don't increase the premiums for girls when they pass. Could be same for boys but I don't know. Quinn are reknowned for major increases when they pass, triple in the case of some of DD's friends.0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. For the record Quinn have a very poor reputation0 -
A colleague of mine tried some of the comparison sites mentioned and discovered that some things weren’t covered with regards to the cheapest quotes, so do bare that in mind. He didn’t say exactly what they were though.0
