with the comparison sites, it's always wise to check the details. Including what the excess is. Whether legal cover is included. Whether a courtesy car is included. etc.
Insurance for younger drivers is expensive. Shop around for the best quotes.Indecision is the key to flexibility

An easy was to explain it would be to imagine an Insurance company set up by Ryan Air and you have Quinn (They are nothing to do with Ryan Air)
Basically their policy cover is pretty limited and has lots of unusual exclusions.
They like to negotiate on claims eg they will offer an early settlement that is lower than your entitled to as they know a certain amount of people will accept.
They like admin fees.
They have a famous case against them in their home country of Ireland, their client had a major fire at is timber yard. They assessed the damage and gave the client a cheque for 14.7m. Their client did not realise they were accepting this in full and final settlement. The claim was worth circa 50m and went to court where the client won. Note the comments the judge made about their Commercial and UK Sales Manager John Gannon and that he nearly charged him with contempt of court

my daughter is due to start lessons soon and we were going to share my car i have a 51 plate peugeot 307 i pay £250 fully comp per year just to put her on my insurance they want £2200 my car is not evn worth that
What is this obsession people have with the value of their vehicle and the amount they pay for insurance?I've just put my 17-year old learner daughter on my policy as a named driver. My original insurer wanted £3,000 and my car is only worth £500! It's insurance group 5.0 -
My car is worth f*ck all, so my insurance should be free

My girlfriend is with Admiral. She rates them very highly.
19, no no claims, driving for 18 months, 2 claims (1 'at fault'), brand new car (since rebuilt.. ahem).. £600/yr. I'm hoping when she adds me to the policy it'll come down a bit... but time will tell.
Could do far worse than Admiral!Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi my previous post may help you .
My daughter got a 1000cc car on her provisional, her as owner , got insurance via admiral , she as main driver me as named driver which reduced premium alot, also things to factor in to reduce premium - parking overnight amount of miles, policy excess as mentioned previous in this thread.added benefit is I can drive her car at times.
Insurance from provisional to full lic increased by approx £200.
decided to get full comp as car worth £1500. but if car worth less than this I probably would have gone TPFT.
Daughter passed test 1st time and I felt less stressed about her driving as she had experience in her car with me next to her before she went off on her own.
Did not like 10 month bonus thing Admiral offer as others have said if you change insurance company after this time others may not see 1 years driving for NCD or 1 year since passing test, so felt not worth it.
Just to add after she had passed her test and her insurance after adjustments came to just under £1000 fully comp.
also to add my NCD are not affected if she has a bump.0 -

This may work out cheaper. You pay as you go for the month, insurance is in her own name and ends when she passes (so no yearly cover to pay out for). I have a 2.8 people carrier so there is no way I am adding her to my own insurance! The cheapest quotes were around £7k as a provisional driver!
Looking at quotes for my DD (for after she had passed), a basic and old Corsa or Fiesta were coming out at £1050 TPFT with myself and her Nan as named drivers; it reduced the quote by almost £700.0
