How to obtain bank reference letter..

Hello Friends,
I am going to buy a lease (business) for which I need a bank reference letter for my land lord. I have current account and saving account with barclays.Today I have been to the bank but business manager told me that you would have to open a business account with bank in order to obtain a reference letter. could anybody please tell me that without opening an business account i can get a reference or not ? I do know that by today or tomorrow I definately need a business account but I realised that I am being forced to have an business account with them. I dont think that I need business account untill I take over the business and I ll have a business account with that bank which ii give me better facilities.
I think bank reference just just reflects your credit history and I dont think you need a business account to get a reference from a bank.Could anybody please clarify ?..

If you are to run a business then having a personal account in no way makes a bank reference mandatory.
Even if you opened a business account they probably would say that they could not offer an opinion on you as you have no track record running a business account.
