Almost 6 year's ago when I went bankrupt my first port of call was to the Nationwide. They opened the basic cashcard account, just ATM use only.
I've not used the account for a while, but today I received a letter off them to say it was going to be called 'cashcard+'
It will be a debit card to use in shops, the net etc.
So that's an improvement! It also say's if you've not used the normal cashcard in the last 12 month's you won't get one:eek:
Anyone else had a letter?

Wonder why you can't use it abroad? Wasn't Nationwide good for not adding charges for overseas atm use?

You can use it to purchase stuff though.... basically a different option instead of withdrawing cash.

Abbey, A&L, and HSBC are the only basic bank acccounts without a debit card. I think they will follow other banks soon.

Well done Nationwide for offer debit cards on a basic bank acccount like other banks. Thye have finally realised that increasing amounts of people are using cards for payment. They should have done that a long time ago.

    Interesting reading

When DH and I went bankrupt last year we had a Nationwide joint flexaccount that was in credit at the time. I was pleasantly suprised to not have the account closed. They just downgraded it to a cash card account. I guess its unlikely our cashcards will be upgraded during BR but maybe after discharge, who knows!!

Exactly the same happened to me Angiepange, but in the letter I received yesterday they say I will receive the new card between june and september!
Looks like we'll get the new card x

You will still get a debit card with a Cash Card Account. They are abolishing cash cards all together.
