Trip to Singapore

Guys,

I'm off to Singapore for the first time.

Would like any suggestions on bargains, plus any interesting places for me to go.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

i lived there for a couple of years...best places to go:

    night safari
raffles for a singapore sling (although v expensive)
orchard road for your shopping and orchard towers for some nighttime fun ;-)
Bisous Bar for Bedok Kings memorabilia
    Brewerkz for home brew
    Harrys bar for jazz
try and eat in the food halls...but dont eat at a stall with a lower rating than B (they legally have to display their rating)

thats a start...really depends what you want to do...

Remember when going to raffles , to wear smart clothes(shirt and trousers) otherwise they will not let you in as happened to me in November !
We found some of the food stalls in the chinese markets amazing - never noticed any rating system.......just tucked in...........try "nasi lomak" (not sure of spelling) a malaysian dish of chicken ,coconut rice, cucumber, anchovies and spicy sauce..........hhhmmmm

Also the "hippo" bus tour is worth doing to get yourself familiar with the area......maybe a bit touristy but still worthwhile.

According to mrs Albalad the best thing to do in Singapore is shopping ,shopping and then even more shopping

Thanks guys. All pointers are much appreciated.

Although I'm there for 2 weeks much of it will be busy with work so I'm keen to know exactly what to do before I get there. That way I can hit the ground running.

    Thanks everyone

be careful if you are going to Slim Lim Tower...most of the stuff in the there isnt as cheep as it seems and all the shop keepers price fix. For best deals on electricals I found going to Holland Village Electronics in Holland Village best for the service and price or just try the big electrical shops in raffles city plaza
