Hi, I have had one of these DVD players for a few years now and found it smashing. However, lately, its finding a lot of my home burned disks "bad disk". If I switch it off, then on again, open the draw, do the region free code and switch it off and on again, then put the same disc in...sometimes it works. It used to have no problems playing these, so I'm getting a bit frustrated.

Rather than just going straight out and buying another dvd player, is it worth me looking into upgrading the firmware? If so, how do I do it and is there a risk of ending up with a newer version of firmware that's even worse at playing stuff than the old one? How can I tell if it will be beneficial?

Otherwise, if it looks like a hardware problem (overuse probably lol), then anyone recommend a current bargain (£40 or under) that plays multiregions, DVD+, DVD- and isn't sensitive?

Thanks

If it gets to the point of being too frustrating for you and you want a solution, then look here: http://www.cyberhome-help.de/cyberhome-help.html or ask in their forums here: http://www.cyberhome-help.de/cyberhome-help.html to see if anyone has had a problem after updating their firmware.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.
