Studying Abroad

Next year I will be going to France to study for a year. I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding bank accounts. Whether I should open one in France and transfer the money from my UK bank account (an issue in itself) or to use my UK account? thanks

Many people living abroad, both students and others, choose to open an account with the Nationwide as they don't charge you for overseas cash withdrawals and give a decent exchange rate.

There's generally no free banking in France and transferring money from a UK account to a French one can be very expensive.
