Stolen Plant Pots!

A hanging basket which I lovingly planted up last year, packed with Hyacinth bulbs and viola all just coming into bloom. Gutted! I always have pots and baskets outside and have never had a problem before.
Anyway....has anyone ever used any type of small alarm to try and stop this happening again? I am thinking Betterware or someone might sell something.

You will probably get the alarm pinched as well. Perhaps you could get a metal pot and wire it to an electric fence.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
thread and loop a matching colour small metal chain through the hanging frame bracket on wall. Then run it through the bottom of the pot via the drainage hole. Put a padlock on the end of the chain. Make sure padlock is larger than drainage hole.
Refill pot with compost and bulbs.
You can get cheap chains and padlocks from https://www.toolstation.com code 44469 and 20595
I had the same problem with very large clay pots so put a large cheap padlock in the replacement pots with chain attached to adjacent railings. They never came back although they did try once. Spilt compost, nothing more.0 -
Terrible isn't it how you can't leave even flower planters out without them getting stolen.
I noticed the other day how l was ensuring the back door was locked before l went to the bathroom, we even lock it after putting rubbish in the outside bin.0 -
I had mine stolen after I just moved house in a nice neighbourhood. I have secured the basket with a piece of wire wrapped several times round the basket hook and fixing bracket and used the electrician tie up. So far, it has been ok as the person who steals again will need a pr of scisssors to get away with it. I find the plastics tie up as used by electrician very good & strong. The only problem is it will be a bit of hassle for me when I want to replant.0
