I currently have a Lloyds TSB credit card and my balance is £8500 , I got the card 12 months ago and got it with 12 months no interest for balance transfers , I rang them up the other day to say I would be clearing the balance and would I be able to get a new card with the same benefits , they said they cannot guarantee me getting another card with the same benefits as its only for new customers and they will have to run a new credit check but my circumstances have now changed , 12 months ago I was employed but now im self employed and at the moment self employed people thats not been self employed for the last 3 years cant get anything like a loan , credit card , mortgage etc , this has annoyed me ive been with Lloyds TSB for the past 16 years and have never had any problems or ever missed payments etc , they should look after there customers who have banked with them for years instead of giving new customers all the benefits

surely you are not suggesting your bank cancel your card every 12 months so you can avail of introductory deals? are you serious?

The bank didn't create these interest offers just so you can exclusively take advantage every year. The offers are there to entice new customers.

If you aren't happy paying interest then perhaps a credit card isn't the best product for you.

Yes clearly its the banks fault for not making sure you as a loyal customer is gauranteed to recieve a brand new account with a brand new introductory offer.

At the end of the day, makes no difference that you are of have been a customer of them before- Credit check is going to happen no matter what if your going to open a new account.

What you might wanna do mate is when you have paid your card off call them up and ask if they are able to offer a promotional rate on your existing card- Most card companies do it and if your account is a good as you say you might be in luck

    all the best.

I whole heartedly agree. I've got cards from a lot of different people and they don't automatically keep on giving me back-to-back 0% offers. I think it's a disgrace. They should basically just give us free credit indefinitely. It would save all that faffing about with balance transfers and new applications. If they could reduce the minimum payments to zero that would also be a great help to me personally.
