Is a separate washer & dryer more efficient than combined?

Do not buy a tumble drier.......buy a £100 dehumidifier......put your washing on a clothes horse in a room, shut the door and in 2-3 hours two litres of water is drawn from the clothes....at a fraction of the cost to run the TD.....works for me, although it is in the airing cupboard. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

cheers albyota, I never thought of that either :-)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0

we had a combined washer dryer but the dryer part was unreliable and broke down a few times so we got a separate dryer.
we still use the machine as a washer only0 -

Look out for Five and Ten year warranty offers from Miele.
Keep an eye on the John Lewis website.
Washer/dryers NEVER get Ten Year Warranties.
The integrated washer/dryer has slightly smaller capacity than the non-integrated one due to space constraint, but is more expensive:eek:! I bought a Miele WT2670 non-integrated (£999 incVAT from John Lewis, with 5 year warranty in 2009), and had a facia custom made. This saved a little money, with no compromise in capacity.
The WT2670 is almost as good as a separate dryer, but can only handle half the load.0 -
do it the true MSE way and stick the clothes on clothes airers to dry
been doing this for 9years

This is our current set up - we have two airers that are fantastic for drying most things, it's only the bedding really. I currently live in an attic flat with no garden so can't even put it on a washing line in the Summer, looking forward to having at least a back yard so I can stick them outside (if it doesn't rain!)0 -
