For about £50 you can buy a USB Freeview adapter.
I have tried one and they work very well.

There was a comparison of six of the usb stick freeview receivers in Personal Computer World a couple of months back. The review is here http://www.pcw.co.uk/personal-computer-world/compare/2153973/miniature-usb-tv-tuners0

I can see Belmont transmitter from the window but the small supplied antenna with my USB freeview stick is still not sufficient. I understand this is because the freeview/digital transmission power is being held down prior to analogue switch off (problem with interference) (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belmont_Transmitter)

A Tesco indoor antenna does work OK though!0 -
yeah I wouldnt pay more that £24 - £28 for a digi tv card for the lappy. The standard ariels are not great though. I have to hook mine up to roof ariel when in the house.0
