Apricot about to flower
The lovely spring sunshine has bucked up my new Aprigold apricot no end, just noticed it has small flower buds getting ready to pop open
bare rooted from Blackmoor last November, planted in ground near south facing wall, covered with large poly bag all winter. I will let it blossom, but will I be strong enough to knock off all the fruit? Nah, going to keep two if I can

Quite exciting, never grown this sort of tender fruit before

I have an apricot which is over 10 years old. It is battered, has leaf curl and looks on its last legs. It too flowers early and the fruits are ready in early July. Last year I had over 50lbs. Apricot jam, apricot chutney, apricot leather, apricot ice-cream, apricot stewed and frozen. And then there are the ones eaten straight off the tree. They are delicious. Good luck with yours, it is a lovely addition to the garden and kitchen0

Farway how did your tree do? I really want to plant an apricot, not sure which variety to get yet.
I'm inspired by how much fruit you get toota. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

No fruit I'm sorry to say, the small fruits dropped off, but the tree is thriving and I live in hope for 2011
BTW, my fig had two ripen, so the "exotic" orchard is under way
My apricot was Aprigold, from Blackmoor nursery, just checked and may not be available from them this year, but a Google will throw up other suppliers, such as Ken Muir
I chose this variety as it seems to offer fruit with out many problems regarding training, pruning etc
Time will tell, and like all gardeners, we can but hope & look forwardWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
