Has anyone been in a Matalan Clearance recently. Used to get regular updates on the Scotland forum but recently it has been quiet. Is a long journey for me and so hit and miss don't want to go unless there are some decent offers on. They don't seem to publicise their offers.

I was driving home along the M8 yesterday and there was one of those big billboard trailers advertising it. Was driving quite fast so not 100% sure but think it said 1000s of lines at £1. Was tempted to go at lunchtime today (i work quite near it) but had no food so had to go to Asda. I will definately go one lunchtime next week and will let you know. Are you looking for anything specific, ie girls, rodger & rodgers etc?

It is Rogers and Rogers that I am looking for. I know there is a sale on in the main stores and sometimes that means there is one in there too. Might go tomorrow.

Chrissy G they don't mention the clearance deals on the web site. The only info they give is the location.

Lynnexxxo Just phoned them and they are having a big clearance but is unlikely to start before Monday as they are still sorting through everything. Not any use to me as can only go on a Saturday but maybe you could go Monday lunch time.

Hi Harrassed - I went to Matalan today, was quite pleased with my haul. The shop is massively overstocked and have never seen quite the variety of stuff that they had today. They had lots of stuff from winter 09, loads of sparkly things, and still millions of summer 09 stuff - tshirts, sumer tops etc.

I got : 2 pairs girls shorts, linen blend £1

for me : sandals £2 , 3 or 4 summery tops, all between £1 -3, and a sparkly skirt (don't know why, don't get to go out much ) £1.75.

I never seen any rodgers and rodger stuff - but I was on my lunch hour so short of time. They definately had joggers and stuff in larger sizes. Most of the stuff they had loads and loads of size 8s and 10s, a couple of 12s and one or 2 14/16s.
Other stuff they had:

loads of lovely little boy outfits, mainly very small 0-3,3-6 and 6-9months. very good prices (i think, just glanced)

Quite a lot of baby girl stuff but the prices were only around half the shop price

Nothing much for boys between 3-4 - 7-8.

Mens, winter 09 range half price. Some really nice jackets, but not cheap enough for me!

Millions of those high high heels that were/are fashionable kinda bondage/gladiator type. All about £2.

Lots of nice knitwear, between half original price and 75% off.

Some nice pjs, half original price.

Oh and high school musical costumes size 7-8 only £6.

My mum practically lives in the Sunderland one (it's round the corner from her office) - it's in the former MFI store off Wessington Way if anyone's not found that one yet - pretty hard to miss though if you know the area. Last time I went in I got a tonne of Rogers+Rogers stuff (damn I cried when that brand folded last time) but that was around just before Xmas time.

She always comes out with really nice bedding etc from there as well - got me a lovely egyptian cotton duvet set which is sooooo soft it makes getting up in the morning even worse than it already is.

Am up North week after this so may have to go have a rummage since it's an awesome source of work clothes when I don't like spending a lot of money for stuff to get covered in glue, paint and snot. I'd love another pair of the R+R combats I got - worn them to death. Thankfully I have a nice housetrained fella who knows my size and just goes off on a seek and retrieve mission for me!

Where are these clearance stores? where is the nearist to lincoln? are the clearance/cheaper shops or are they inside matalan stores sorry so many questions little confused

The one I go to is an entirely separate shop, they're not as well-fitted out as the standard stores, and it's a bit of a rummage fest. Search on the Matalan website storefinder and there's a check box for clearance stores to be brought up in the search.

Sometimes a lot of dross in, but for someone bigger like me, the Rogers+Rogers line is one of the few alternatives to the overpriced tat Evans get away with selling (seriously how do you sell a pair of jeans where ONE LEG shrinks in the wash?!).
