Printer recommendation

Can anyone recommend a printer ???

I currently have a Samsung CLP-510.

I have a small business, printing around 20-30 sheets per day - the printer I currently have cost a ridiculous amount of money and costs me a fortune in toner - it is now showing error messages 'install imaging unit' amongst other things and is not printing at all.

I do not really want to throw any more money at it, and wonder if anyone could recommend anything to me??

(also does anyone want to buy a Samsung CLP-510:D)

Hello - there are a lot of threads on printers if you search. Since I was looking in October for a laser printer, you can have my data. I've put the costs per page, of course you need to take that with a grain of salt - but its a convenient point of comparison. I ended up getting the Dell 1110, but I wouldn't recommend it for an office - jams a fair bit. The Oki printers have a long warranty, but I'd probably go with one of the Brother printers for an office, particularly the HL-2140. The Oki B430d has nice specs with good cartridge sizes and warranty period, but Oki tend to exaggerate their products, and there are no reviews for it. The Oki B2200 is interesting as a LED printer, and is the smallest printer of the group. The Samsung is cheap to start with, but the toners cost more per page so I wouldn't buy that.

Just noticed the one you have is a colour laser - do you actually need colour? If so, none of my recommendations will suit as they are all black laser. Colour lasers are very expensive, as you've already discovered. Unless you are always printing out colour sheets, it'd be cheaper in the long run to have a dedicated mono laser - and only use the colour printer when you need to.

You can check out trustedreviews.com for reviews on most of these printers.

p.s. all the prices listed in my above post were from October 2009, so things may be different now

I was going to mention the colour as well (I have the CLP-500) - other thing is whether you need duplex printing as this could limit the options.

I do use colour, but mainly because I do not buy headed paper and use our (colour) logo on a lot of documentation.

I think I do need colour really.

I probably do need duplex printing as I print our T&C's on the back of invoices..

After looking into this, I think I might just get my printer fixed and buy a cheap one in case of the next break down.

So my next question - can anyone recommend anyone to fix printers in the York area, plus can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful printer?
