car hire in Ireland

We are just considering flying for a trip to Ireland as the flights are so cheap with Ryanair at the mo.
What should I expect to pay for about 10 days car hire over there ? Small car is fine, air con a bonus! Is there a good website where I can check out hire prices, or any offers on at the mo?
does anyone know if I can hire a car at Belfast airport, and return it to Dublin airport? i know you can do this in some countries, but this would involve crossing into a different country.
Thanks!!

hiya,
I have today done a price comparison on car-hire from Shannon Airport through Kelkoo for 4 days (31/8 to 4/9) and booked us a Group A car for £53 (+£14 optional excess waiver through insurance4carhire) via Ebookers - or carbookers as that bit of the site is called. They currently seem to have 10% off (price was £61 last week) This was about half the cheapest travelsupermarket quote - I believe they do offer one-way hires, but not sure between belfast/dublin, or how much it would cost.
I also went through Quidco so should get 5% cashback.
The only other quote which came close to this was actually going through Avis, using a discount code I found somewhere on this board.
