Do you think this PC is worth the money? In my opinion it looks like a good deal, quite high spec including; 1GB of RAM, 200GB disk, fast AMD chip, a DVD-RW, and all for £439.98 including a 14" widescreen TFT monitor, though I'm not so sure about the monitor.

The spec is OK for basic tasks but a 14" monitor is very poor.
I can't remember the last time I saw a 14" monitor sold with a desktop.
Have a look at Dell for similarly specified PC's with decent size monitors.0 -
It`ll run more than just basic tasks, do you know what your talking about?0

Yes thankyou. God it must be the night for arguments judging by the !!!!!! thread.
Comet are the ones who can't even give clear information. It lists the video card as shared memory 'Fine for basic computing tasks but not powerful enough for digital photography, video editing and gaming', then further down lists video editing under 'other features'.
With a 14" screen of poor specification and a shared memory graphics card, you're only going to be doing basic image editing and seeing low frame rates for any recent games.
You can do basic tasks, like write DVD/CDs, use the Internet/EMail and use Office applications perfectly well with this PC.
It's got a reasonable single core CPU and a decent 1Gb of RAM, but that's about it!
What advanced tasks do you suggest this machine will handle well?0 -
256MB of the 1024MB of RAM goes to graphics so there is still a lot left over, three times more than the 256MB I have just now, which is fine for; internet/video watching.
I don't think the lower end of the market 14'' TFT will make much difference to the performance, what do you think?0 -

Haven't studied this, but at first glance the 3200 system from the link above is similar (but with only 512MB ram - you can buy 512 more for £25) and this comes with an excellent 17inch tft - which I'm using right now! It's also cheaper, even after you've bought a bit of ram, and added postage on. The thing is with places like Comet, you can never be sure of the quality of components. e.g. what make is the motherboard? Is the memory cheap or branded? I prefer to hand pick my components, even if you then ask the company to put it together. Most sites have a 'build' or 'configurator' area. just a thought. At the end of the day, a pc is a pc, it'll be vastly improved on your old one. If you have more questions, you are in the right place to ask!:money: [STRIKE]Mortgage: July01=62700; Apr07=~15000[/STRIKE]

I'd be inclined to get it without the monitor and find a bigger screen.0

But you would only save £40. You might be able to sell the 14'' TFT on for more that that.0
