I was looking at one of these for making sealed crustless sandwiches for my daughter's lunches.... Pampered Chef Cut N Seal
However at £9 then £6 postage, it's a bit on the steep side for a lunch tool. Has anyone got any bright ideas on an alternative product or somewhere I can find a cheaper version of this??

Many thanks :)

you could find your local rep and have a pampered chef party if you have a few friends who'd come, you could prob get one out of your commission?

or if you find a local rep they will poss order one for you to save on the postage?

I've looked at a few reviews of the cut n seal and apparently it cuts quite well but often doesn't seal so could you not perhaps just use a large pastry/cookie cutter?

Or maybe a pasty maker/mould, then you could use it for making pasties too?

To be honest I can't see how that "seals" the sandwich and what use it would be. I would either use a knife and cut the crusts off or use a cutter, but then I am a sucker for pastry/cookie cutters and have a drawer full of different shapes and sizes.

So really it just depends how much you think it will get used and if you want to treat yourself.

My kids also like those pinwheel sandwiches which are easy to make and great for little fingers.

All this started because my DD was hiding her lunches below her bed which in turn took me on a journey into snazzy lunches and now it has kind of developed into a bit of an obsession!

At least it's a healthy obsession to have, unlike some previous ones I had :D

I'm trying to find a cheaper method of making the sealed sandwiches as DD isn't fussed on the crusts, so rather than send a sandwich that comes home with 2 bites out, I'd rather cut the crusts off (whizz these in the blender and shove them in my freezer stash of crumbs) and seal the filling in. We have a small dumpling press but it's fiddly as it's it's very small and not designed for bread.

If I make a batch of these pocket type sandwiches, I can freeze them too, they can then either defrost in the lunch box or they can be toasted depending on the filling.

The press cuts the sarnie, then there is another bit that comes down inside and crimps the edges to seal it up into a pocket. ;)

    Hi ark :hello:

I have the pampered chef cut and seal and it's rubbish...complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned. It squishes the bread and in my opinion makes very unappetising sandwiches. I find it easier to just cut the crusts off myself for those who don't like them.

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the I wanna board to see if you can get more help.

    Hi

You can find a rep on the Pampered Chef websire who will be able to get one for you and deliver it to you. My friend has one and loves it. If you are not happy with it you can return in within 30 days.
