Bahama's 2/3 day cruise

We are going to Florida for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year (Can't wait :j) and are travelling around a fair bit... seeing Miami, the Keys and Orlando. But we've still got a few days spare in our itinerary and are thinking of doing a cruise to the Bahamas and would love any advice and help any other Money Savers out there have ie. cheapest way to get there... Do you have to take a cruise or is there a 'ferry'? Accommodation once there, and can you swim with the dolphins on these cruises?

I've been to Miami a few times. I don't know anything about pre-booking trips, but locally there's lots of competition. There are tonnes of leaflets in the hotels and most hotels will book trips for you. There are also several tour shops along Collins Avenue. I recall seeing 1 day cruise trips to Nassau for about $99, can't remember the prices for longer ones, but there were lots of different options, from the simple to the luxurious.
