Hi guys and gals
We've had a massive thunderstorm here today, and during it, my router appeared to lose it's internet connection. I did the normal stuff of re-booting my PC and the router (a linksys WAG54G V2).
Now according to their website, BT are upgrading systems over the next few days, but both their phone and internet based 'service status' report no problems in my area.
I've never really paid much attention to the lights on the router, and can't find the docs to tell me what should be on and off, but I'd have thought the DSL and/or the Internet light should be on, but they're not.
I've gone into the 192.168.1.1 confguration thingy, and in the DSL connection status it says:
DSL Status: DOWN
DSL Modulation Mode: NOT TRAINED
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Anyone have any idea's what the status lights should be? The DSL one flashes 32 times every few minutes, then goes off. The internet light never comes on.
If any of you kind souls could help or point me in the direction of a helping hand I'd genuinely appreciate it!
Thanks!
Dylan

I have a linksys and my adsl light is constant while the internet light flashes with activity.
I've recently had to buy a new linksys as my other router, a WAG54G v 1.0 failed due to a faulty power supply which had beenfeeding 17 volts instead of 12v.0 -
Thanks for the feedback guys... sorry for the delay in responding too!
After a very tiring long weekend of helpdesk calls etc, it looks like my router is indeed knackered! I've finally tracked down the software for my original modem, and fired it up, to find it's ADSL light is on permanently. The router light when connected however, just flashes like that computer in the Wargames movie!
Having queried this with Linksys and performed several hard resets, they have determined it is faulty.
Fortunately it had a 3 year warranty, so it's back to them it will go!
Thanks for the feedback!0 -
Just for future reference............
If you do get a storm in your vicinity. It's always worth unplugging your dialup, or broadband connection from the telephone socket during the storm. This could possibly save you a fortune if you do get a strike on your phone line. I always unplug the BB during local storms. I have a wired network at home, and never fancy taking a chance on risking a fried router and/or all the computers on the network. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

go to your 192.168.1.1 and see if you have a master reset which will wipe all settings from the router and make it like its just been installed, unless its a power supply fault then this should do the trickLike what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:
