American Buyer bought laptop!

I need some advice!
A buyer in the USA has won the bidding for a laptop I had for sale.
He didn't ask previously for the international postage costs - I state clearly in my auction to ask before buying!
Anyway, now he has won he wants to know how much postage will be.
I've done a quick check on parcelforce and they will cost £30-£70 for delivery.
The parcel is 4.1kg, 33cm x 16cm x 40 cm - which company will be cheapest for me to send this with?! I'm afraid to go with PF in case the buyer rejects my postage costs!

Did you state anything in your auction about it being for the UK only? It sounds like your settings allowed them to bid.

It's his problem if he didn't check postage costs... but as long as he understands where the item is coming from he *shouldn't* be unreasonable about the cost.

An item I'm selling is over 2kg and I've had to quote a USA price of £38.

I state in all my auctions I am willing to sell worldwide - thats not the issue really. The fact he bid not knowing the costs are what worries me - I go to high on costs, he complains and negs me or I go to low and I lose out!

You're within your rights to charge what it costs! Don't be out of pocket.

Assuming you have not sent the invoice yet, look on royal mail site and get costs then send him the invoice, he can choose to buy or not.

    Fedex was £100!
Think ParcelForce maybe the best option, thanks for all your suggestions!
  • Make sure he realises that the UK isn't part of the USA!! Some of em think that UK is a state abbrieviation.

Sorry, but this all sounds a bit dodgy to me. Laptops are always cheaper in the US than the UK - why would he buy from here and pay all that extra for shipping as well?
Keyboard will be wrong as will the PSU lead.

I'd be worried about a Paypal chargeback and back away from the deal.
    Can I help?

I agree with this comment, it sounds like there could me more trouble once they get the laptop due to the psu lead.

I sent a message to the buyer stating the costs and if they were ok I would send the invoice.
He has now replied this morning saying they are too high and I should put it back on ebay!

What do I do now regarding feedback and fees?
