Kia sedona
I HAVE A KIA SEDONA 2005 PLATE. ON THE 18/12/2009 I HAD WORK DONE BY MY LOCAL `BUDGET` GARAGE AND HAVE THE FOLLOWING WORK DONE , D/SHAFT OIL SEAL PLUS A KIA FRONT PIPE AS MY OIL LIGHT KEPT FLICKERING ON MEANING I HAD TO ALWAYS TOP THE OIL.FAST FORWARD TO 28/02/2010 AND MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING THEN AFTER ONLY A FEW HUNDRED YARDS THE ENGINE MADE A LOAD CHUDDERING NOISE AND AFTER I STOPPED IT FAILED TO START AGAIN. I CALLED THE AA AND WHEN THE MECHANIC CAME OUT HE LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAID THE UNDERNEATH WAS COVERED IN OIL. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE FILTER UNDER THE CAR WAS LOOSE AND HE TIGHTENED IT.HE SAID THATS WERE THE OIL WAS COMING FROM.HENCE TO SAY I HAVE BEEN TOLD ENGINE IS KNACKERED AND A NEW ONE IS NEEDED. MY QUESTION IS WHAT WOULD MAKE THE OIL FILTER LOOSE? COULD IT BE THAT IT WASNT TIGHTENED PROPERLY FROM MY GARAGE VISIT IN THE DECEMBER AND IF SO ARE THEY LIABLE , CAN I MAKE ANY CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE? A REPLY WOULD BE GRATEFUL URL="javascript:editQuestion();"]Edit[/URL

Ginno19, it certainly sound like you might have a case against the garage that did the work, did you get a report from the AA guy, go back to the garage with it and see what they say, if they wont help, go see your local trading standardsI used to be me !! what happened

I Knicked this from my other post
I bought a Kia Carens 2.0ltr diesel about 9 months ago not pleased with car at all it was a gas/diesel guzzler giving me about 28 to the gallon the handbrake refused to hold and I took it back and had it done three times in nine months infact it rolled backwards into a parked car nearly pinning me between it and that wasnt on my way out of it it was when i was coming back to it only the hatch lid the 2 support pistons failed the same time and it came down and just missed my wifes head but credit where credits due Kia customer support was second to none. I think it was a jinx car couldn't wait to sell it, I have now :T No more Kia's
Now to my point when my cars handbrake failed it was an insurance claim and my insurance guy told me it was the garage to blame and they would go after thier insurance. But then all of a sudden the garage said its not them to blame because as soon as you drive it away things can go wrong and my insurance forked out.The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0 -
is not unkwown for oil filters to come loose rare do'es happen.
as a rule when i replace an oil filter i road test the car then recheck the filters tight, (passed experience of iveco daileys tought me that).
how many miles have you done since?
if not many then press the garage and see what they have to say0 -
kias are bad for oil filters coming slack ,check out uk sorento .co.uk forums ,when i do mine i always use a filter strap to give it a bit more of a tighten never had the problem again0
-
do you know if the filter was a cheapie or a known brand?0
-
it was the original filter fitted by kia i assume0
