This small-holding business sounds fun, but how does the farm cope during the winter months when it's obviously far too cold and wet to go outside to work?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Er... you go out and work even if it is too cold and wet to go outside to work. This is something hugh exceedingly-longname does not tell you about smallholding.

Put a polythene roof on an outhouse today. In a year or two, it's coming down, but ATM we can get 15 tonnes of logs in dry storage there. :)

Do you have machinery suitable for shifting 15 tons of logs?

Quite often its called ''the Husband'', In davesnave's case it might well be called ''the family''. We've been moving the result of our felling in the back of the landrover, load by load, in dry days when there is nothing more pressing to do. Here we feel defeated by moving the tonnes and tonnes of hardcore we have to deal with. I really hope for christmas santa brings me a really good work party of elves to help move rubble. Its way down on the list, which is a shame because some of it I see all the time and its a little depressing

Cold days are dealt with by dressing well, and the essential ''sterner stuff''. I'm finding the cheap rip offs of uggs great now we have concrete, as they are very warm if they don't get wet.

There are always ways to keep warm, digging, sawing, moving, sweeping, but mostly they involve getting muddy and or wet.

Er, I don't think blogger is easier to use than word press. Word press is pretty easy to use, what are the nature of your problems?

I am not banned on wordpress, worst case scenario, I can always shove your articles in if you need help.

To those who feel that the right answer to 'why do you want this job' is 'to pay the mortgage', you need to add some emphasis to the question - 'why do you want this job'. Frankly, there's nothing wrong with mundane answers to mundane questions "I am confident I can do it, it's a step up from where I am so it'll stretch me, the work is interesting (even if it isn't), and I've heard great things about the company."

I once interviewed for a job in banking, after a four year absence from the industry. At the final interview, the interviewer (Head of Credit Risk at Bear Stearns of all places) said "you've all the technical skills, but I'm not sure what gets you really passionate. Putting money aside, what would be your ideal job?"
I answered (and this chap was Indian, so I thought this wasn't entirely stupid) "Cricket Commentator".
He replied "so you're not passionate about credit risk?"

I didn't need to wait for the letter telling me I hadn't got the job....

    You are a sweet thing!

OK, it says ''Please make sure you have filled in required fields''. Well it has a title in the middle bit, a post in the post bit and tags...I just put random words in...I'm trying to do what you both say and just write without getting fluffed up about anything else.

I'm guessing after getting familiar with the format I'll relax a bit and write more like me, less like a pretentious person sitting on a stick.

so , um, anyway....there are no other blanks I can see to fill in....yet it wants something from me...
