Diamond Insurance - Beware!

I would be very careful using Diamond Insurance for Car Insurance. They have basically robbed me of £1300 for supposedly "not declaring 3 points" which I most certainly did.
In my opinion this is response to a claim I made as a result of a bump my car had when parked. I was not in it at the time. They paid out the insurance then 2 weeks later doubled my premium via a letter in the post.
After several attempts to contact them and ask why, being passed from representative until a manager explained the blatant lie that I did not declare the points. Is this legal? It seems they have me over a barrel as it is their word against mine.
When I told them I wanted to cancel the policy due to the increased premiums, the dishonesty and terrible customer service, I was told I would have to pay the remaining 9 months of my premium because I made a claim.
I would strongly recommend you do not use this bunch of thieves who masquerade as insurers. I should have paid for the damage myself, even though I did nothing wrong, at least I would still have a no claims bonus!
I would be very interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar bad experience with insurers, particularly this one

How had you informed them of the convictions eg on the original application or by telephone at renewal etc0

If you did disclose the points, then you will have some evidence to that effect in the form of a signed Proposal Form or unamended Statement of Fact. What convictions show on the document and what convictions do you have?Bobby-Manc wrote: »In my opinion this is response to a claim I made as a result of a bump my car had when parked.
I'm not sure what your point is here. Of course, should someone submit a claim then the insurer will take all reasonable steps to investigate the validity of the claim, which includes checking that all material facts were accurately disclosed at inception/renewal.Bobby-Manc wrote: »After several attempts to contact them and ask why, being passed from representative until a manager explained the blatant lie that I did not declare the points. It is not "their word against yours". See above. If you did declare your convictions correctly then you will have an accurate Proposal Form/Statement of Fact to this effect.Bobby-Manc wrote: »When I told them I wanted to cancel the policy due to the increased premiums, the dishonesty and terrible customer service, I was told I would have to pay the remaining 9 months of my premium because I made a claim.
It is an completely standard for a motor insurance contract to stipulate that the full annual premium is due should a claim be incurred. Nothing untoward here.0 -

Even if the quotation/inception was originally via telephone, you would have then subsequently received a Proposal Form/Statement of Fact.
If you are sure that you disclosed the conviction(s) over the phone then you can request a copy of the call recording under a Data Subject Access Request, as per your rights under the Data Protection Act.0 -
Thanks for replying. I will request the phone records as recommended. I've been through all the documentation I have received from Diamond and nothing mentions the addition of the points to the policy0
