I've just seen what looks like a good buy on ebay---8 2700Mah batteries and a 1000Mah charger.---But how long to charge up 4 batteries??Any ideas?;)

The usual easy answer is: overnight.
The more difficult answer depends on how discharged they are, the cleverness of the charger, and so on...
