I've now left the drier alone for a few days. Was going to disconnect some things thoday to try to eliminame them. Anyway, plugged it in an turned it on an it ran for about 7 seconds before blowing the house RCD.

As it was blowing instantly before, this is making me think it could be water in the motor? Yes? No?

I would venture that its much more likely the element is failing.

Its not un common for tumble dryers, they are very simple and it sounds like the element is heating up and failing under load.

Plan B is to check the filter on the door (if it has one fitted). If its full of fluff the air wont pass through it and it will blow pretty quickly. Our machine has one and it slides in and out of the door from inside. Worth a go?

    All the filters are clean.

Someoneelse suggested the heater element. Think they are about 25 quid and its prolly a DIY fit too.
