The request wasn't sent to me;) but I'll move this thread to the 'Greenfingered' board:

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

• The Potatoes for Schools project is open to school and home educators but unfortunately registration for this year has ended.

hi,
have a look on this site:

http://www.rocketgardens.co.uk/dig-for-their-future.asp

perhaps not free but supposedly quite cheap!

Or as mentioned the BBC dig in campaign will send you 5 packets of free seeds, you do an online form.

Check on this greenfingered forum often as people often find deals where seeds/plants are free you just pay postage and they always let eveyone else know!

As for free pots, equipment etc, try posting an advert on freecycle or put notices in your local shops. Places like Morrisons sell off their old flower buckets 8 for 99p, garages gives tyres away free - they make good pots!

Keep looking on here for any advice you need, someone usually has the answer!!

(Just seen on the site this:
http://www.jparker.co.uk/plant-10056...-per-customer/

200 bulbs for £1 +p&p, add the code GWD01 at checkout and get 10% discount on that!

Home educators, not so much a problem, but with school gardens the majority of veg eg tomatoes, beans, courgettes are harvested over the summer holidays: unless you have a heated greenhouse/polytunnel and can get an early crop. It will continue cropping so will need tending even after the schools have closed for holidays.

Veg that is ready after the school holidays, needs tending to in July/Aug/Sept.

Please look at the harvesting period on the back of seed packets, and bear in mind that the earliest dates are usually covered crops or somewhere warm like the Scilly Isles.

My wife home ed's out littlen.. I tend to buy alot of my seeds from a well known auction site and have a found a great place and cheap and p and p is very low!! so helpful :)
She uses gardening as a lesson.. its so great to watch a child learning what they need to live instead of to pass a test.. btw she is also being taught the normal subjects.. :)

If you know of a friend who grows things as them when they buy seeds for a few of each as well..
God helps make my veggie patch grow. He provides everything I need.. It only fails if I do NOT do as He has told me!!

Imagine if Christianity spread like swine flu... how much better the world would be!! God Bless!
