A strange question

I'm looking for some advice off you knowledgable people and wonder if you can help. My motto is to ask for it back - they can only say no but I wonder what my chances are.

In 1998 my husband took out a loan for £10,000 with Lloyds. In 2001 he entered into an IVA as he couldn't afford his debts. As part of the IVA his creditors agreed to accept a proportion of their money back. He came into enough money in 2004 to pay off the balance of his IVA but we are wondering if there is any chance he can now try and claim the PPI on the loan back.

What are his chances?

    Hi there

If your hubby was mis sold the PPI then yes go for it.

If the account of the insurance was in dispute, you can complain on that as well if you want to.
Even if not mis sold and you had problems in regards of the insurance.

I would defo give it a shot. Good luck and more info on reclaiming here:

  • Thanks Di,

What's the worse that can happen? They can say no. If I don't ask I'll never know. Will keep you posted.

If they say no, then keep at them until a final response is issued, they should give the details of the financial ombubsman service (FOS), where you should be able to take your complaint to these for investigation.

That is right, it you don't ask or try you will never know ;).

Fingers crossed, we look forward to hearing the outcome of this.

Might be better to send it recorded delivery though.;)
  • Am jusy waiting for a reponse now. Letter sent recorded delivery yesterday so lets keep fingers crossed. Was speaking to a friend about this and they had a loan a few years ago with their husband and they feel they were mis-sold ppi, they are divorced now but could she claim back her half of the ppi, they are not on good terms so there would be no chance of them claiming it back jointly.
