Hi ive got a business bank acount with Lloyds - they bounced a cheque from it for £208.93 so took it out then paid it back in but theyve entered the wrong amount in - theyve paid in £2083.93 - leaving me way in credit - i noticed this yesterday and thought that at close of business they would rectify this - what am i obliged to do about it??

If it were me, I'd leave it until they find out and gain as much interest from the money as possible :j
They will find out as soon as they reconcile their accounts, so dont spent it Dotty

Yer, leave it there and don't spend it. At least have the intrest on it.
My bank messed up my business banking. They gave me free banking for a year when I joined. I didnt take much notice, but they 'forgot' to apply the charges again. So, 2 and a half years into my business I got a MASSIVE shock when my statement came through. £786 in charges had been taken, taking me past my overdraft (a pathetic £9 overdraft!!) so I got charged for every day I was in debt. I hadn't checked my business acount for about 4 days and it was only the letter that made me go check.
After a massive complaint I did get it all refunded as it was their mistake, not mine, but had to pay still for going over drawn.
Basically that's why I'm saying don't spend it! They do catch up with you in the end! But cream the intrest!0 -
Totally agree with the aboveDebt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345

What time is your flight !
He he.... nah, theyll realise in a few days, whip it out and probably send YOU a nasty letter...0 -
Hey Dotty sorry to see you're still having 'fun' with the bankers..I'd leave it in there as they'll probably notice sooner rather than later but when they do kick up a stink and write a really strong letter saying how it could have got you into more trouble, accrued more charges etc if you hadn't noticed that it was wrong, you might be lucky and get a goodwill payment??It's worth a try girl!!
I'm just off to catch up with everyones diarys now0 -
Hi Dotty,
what a temptation eh?
I have 2 accounts now, so i would probably spend it and tell them tough ;-)
On a serious note, do you have phone bank? Ring them and demand it is taken out immediately.0 -
God it is so tempting especially as most of you know the business owes about the same amount as im now in credit - i know its not mine but its really tempting.............Focusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0

I agree with all the others; to spend it would be theft.
If you tell them they won't appreciate your goodwill but they will let you keep the interest.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
When you tell them, don't phone it in, but write a letter to their official complaints department. Their speed of response in this case can be a benchmark to be measured against any other complaints you might raise.
If it only takes them 1 day to take the money away - then all of your complaints can be settled that quickly can't they...?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
