i was signed off work on april 2008 and i started to claim income support based incapacity benefit, i then got called for a medical which i did not attend as i dont go out and wanted a home medical visit, they suspended my money in nov 2008 and was told to continue to send in sick lines as i would get this back dated if i passed medical,in june 2009 i claimed esa as a means of income and was told that i would go back to my is based ib if i passed my medical and that i was only on esa until medical if i passed, i have found out today that i passed and phoned to find out about me getting my money for dec 08 until march 09 as i didnt receive any benefits but still had an active claim even tho it was suspended.i am waiting on someone to call me back tomorrow as the person on phone did not understand what i was meaning.has anyone else been in this position and what sould i expect, it was jcp staff that told me i would get this back dated if i continued to send in sick lines.
many thanks for anyone that can help.

Did you not appeal the IB decision?Gone ... or have I?0

i did appeal and they said that the claim would remain open until the out come of my medical and that i was to continue to send sick lines, but that i would not receive money, was not until a few month later that i could claim esa until i had my medical,i have passed so will i be entitled to claim for the 4 month i did not receive money,i was also told today that it looks like my claim was closed when they entered my esa claim into the system and they dont know why this happened.
many thanks0 -
First things first - there is no such thing as Income Support based Incapacity Benefit - there is Incapacity based Income Support.
When did you get called for the medical? Did you ever actually attend the medical? Was your IB appeal just to explain why you didnt make the medical?
There is a possibility of arrears but even if there are the ESA you have already received will be taken into account.0 -
yes its ib based is.yes the appeal was to say about medical, all i was told was it was fine and that they would start my money again if i passed medical, was told waiting on a home medical would take few month so got told to apply for esa in meantime, since i was told to send in sick lines dec 08 till march 09 as i would get this money if/when i passed medical which i have now done.
thanks for any advice0
