Egg credit card ppi

Hi

I have recently discovered I have been paying for egg ppi on my credit card, which I had no idea about. I have had my egg card since 2001 and would like to find out how long I have been paying for this and if I can claim it back.
Do I send the standard sar template (that seems to be worded more for loans rather than cred cards) or is there a template specifically for credit cards.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been thinking of using a reclaim company but dont know who to trust, and I have read it is easy to claim without

Thanks in advance

Matt

    Hi Matt

The SAR template letter stands for all, just tweak to your circumstances if you can.
The only thing here, is that the SAR - they may only send you details going back as far as 5/6 yrs, however, some are lucky to still receive info going back to even earlier years, if they are unable to supply you with anything then they should write back by 40 days to let you know and return your £10 payment that you need to enclose by cheque or postal order with this request of a SAR.

Did you purchase the policy online, sometimes it can be more difficult to investigate, but it have been done and people have still been successful, however check here for more info with the guidelines of reclaiming as well:

Amersall I believe was successful with these, hopefully she will be along soon and have some useful advice/info for you on this one.

Ask for help if required, good luck and please keep us posted.:)

  • Sorry to hijack this post,
I like Harveydog have been with egg since 2001 and i didnt know i had it or been paying for it until i came into financial difficulty. I have since cancelled the PPI payments to egg. Can i still make a claim for the payment that i made over all these years?

Hi Haveydog & darren, I'd say go for it! a couple of weeks ago i sent a letter asking for all ppi to be refunded, like you both i had not even realized i'd had it, after an SAR letter it only took 1 letter and they offered all PPI plus 8% interest just thinking i should have asked for the other interest applied to the PPI on the account! I honestly didn't think i had much of a case because it was all done on line, but no probs! Go for it!

On checking my egg statements I have recently discovered I have been paying for egg ppi on my credit card, which I didnt realised I was doing. I had the card from Dec 2002 until Oct 2008. They have replied to my 1st letter saying that I took it out online and I have no case as Terms & Conditions were on the website. I dont remember ever accepting the PPI as I am covered extremely well through my job. They also suddenly stopped charging me the PPI in July 2006 which I find strange. Is it worth persevering with a further letter?
    Any help gratefully received.

Really and truely you need to find out why in July, 2006 you stopped paying it. Did you ring them to cancel perhaps as they could say that you were aware of this 3.5 years ago? You could request a SAR from them for £10. Its all the info they hold on you and takes 40 days to arrive so timescales here (with already complaining) are tight.
    There is a template here
