I bought solid oak from woodenworktops.com and absolutely love them. The key thing is the preparation. I used Osmo products, one coat of the water proofer followed by 2 coats of the Top oil. It was quick and easy to apply and seemed to go on hardening for some time. 6 months later and worktops are perfect....no further maintenance needed for some time yet I am sure. Definitely use the Osmo rather than other oils!0

Never heard of Osmo but think I might give them a go as I don't rate Danish Oil. Just had a look at their website and can see the Top Oil, but not the Water Proofer...does it go under another name?0 -
