Sony e-reader PRS300-battery life?

I had one of these as a Christmas present. I charged it fully. I used it on a recent transatlantic flight (9hrs), switched it off (using the on/off power switch) and then kept it in a safe for two weeks. On the return journey, I switched it back on, it flashed 'low battery' and switched itself off. According to the instructions, the battery should last approx 2 weeks/6,800 page turns. The book that I read was approx 300 pages. Has anyone else any experience of these? I returned it to Sony and they have said that they cannot find a fault with it.

The battery life is two weeks or 6800 page-turns. Yours ran flat after two weeks (and an unspecified number of page turns during 9 hrs use). I don't see a problem. I don't think that the two weeks specified means two weeks use.I had one of these as a Christmas present. I charged it fully. Don't know about 300 but I have 505 and if you just use the on off switch it will still use battery more so than if you use menu/settings/advance/device Shutdown then it will last longer (or appears to on 505)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thanks to both of you. My understanding of it had been that the battery lasted for 6,800 page turns or two weeks if turned on. I thought by switching it off it wouldn't lose any power. I'll try the menu/settings way.0

I know this is an old thread but I am experiencing a similar problem. I have timed the battery life on my machine and from a full charge the low battery warning comes on in just under 5 days! That is without using the unit to read anything - a full charge and then leave it on standby.
It has been sent back to Sony twice: first time they said there was no fault, second time they say they have replaced the battery but the battery life has not improved.
I am not impressed as Sony say the standby time is 2-3 weeks. As far as I am concerned, the PRS300 is not fit for purpose (ie taking on holiday) as I would need to take the usb cable and my laptop to recharge it 3 times in a fortnight.
Time to try to get my money back I think.0
