Toilet question!

would you expect to get the silver handle that goes on the outside of the cistern?

It was missing from the delivery, so I rang up and queried so Homebase sent me the flush syphon kit again and said the handle should be in the pack.

It wasn't so I rang again and explained that again the external handle isn't in the syphon kit, so I've been told they will send me out a new syphon kit but he doesn't know if the external handle is in the kit or not :wall:

Does anyone know if you are supposed to get the external handle, or should I just quit now and go and buy one?!

Unless its specifically says somewhere in small print that fixings etc aren't included, I'd expect to get the flush with it, so you may aswell keep pushing for them to supply it. I got the flush when I bought a toilet.

Mind you, I expected mats with my new car, but noooooo.

It says in the spec "Included: Pan, cistern with side lever and toilet seat."

That being the case the "side lever" very definitely ought to be in it!

A majority of toilets, sinks, baths etc are sold without fittings.

but I agree with WestonDave in this instance.

It really boils down to , define 'fittings'

Bath / handbasin would expect to buy taps/wastes separately.

W/C if it came with syphon would expect 'side' handle.
But possible no brass screws to screw it down.

If the WC stated that no syphon was included , would it have a handle ??

I took fittings to mean the bolts to fix the cistern to the wall and pan to the floor were not included.

When it said the cistern had the side lever and it came with the flush syphon pack, I expected the external lever to be included too. Otherwise you're left with a toilet you can't flush!

Can understand taps and wastes being extra's for a sink/bath as there are so many different styles.

Will see what turns up in the next package! I have to go to a retail park with a Homebase next week, so can always call in and ask if I get no joy from the phoneline people.
