Reclaiming money from Camp America

Hello all,

I am just a messenger, but I just wanna ask whether there is a way that my gf can claim back the money she spent on Camp America? She paid to go in summer 2009 but they failed to place her, so she differed to summer 2010, however she's been on a Ski season & has a grad job sorted and no longer wants to go (& her nan is becoming increasingly ill, so she wants to be about). Is there anyway she can recoup this money b/c it's about £500 worth, & its not really her fault that circumstances have changed....

She gave them a ring, where she thought she was eligible for £100 and they gave her some !!!! and bull excuse, but she's not one for confrontation so before I go in all guns blazing I wanna get as much advice as poss! If necessary I am willing to take legal proceedings as far as they need to go b/c I've had enough of companies trying to take advantage of students!

Anyway if anyone can let me know of some extenuating circumstances etc.. that would be great! Oh and apologies if I've posted this on the wrong forum!

Did you have to sign a contract when going for the camp? Have a look at the terms and condition of the contract. Does it say anything about getting money back? ect

Definitely have a look at the terms and conditions, it should tell you what, if anything, is refundable. I think they should refund if a placement cannot be found, but cancelling on them might be different.

Why not just tell the truth?

Also, FWIW, throwing a strop with them is unlikely to help!

Look at the T&Cs so you know what you are talking about, and if they are in the wrong, politely point it out, referring to the T&Cs, and ask for a refund.

However, if your girlfriend is not entitled to have the money returned, try being ultra nice and ask if there is any leeway, given the circumstances. Make them the true circumstances though; not some !!!! and bull story you found on the internet!
