Eon taking my supply without consent

  • Hi,

I deal with my parents home gas and electricity supply as they do not speak English and cannot use a comouter.

I changed their home energy to supply to EDF in July 2011 and my father received a letter from EDF stating they were sorry he was leaving them at the beginning of this month, which he (or I) did not cancel. After talking to EDF they stated that the account has been moved to EON 7 days ago. My father nor I have ever been in touch with EON to change and consent to the account being moved to EON. My father has received NO welcome pack or letters from EON either to say that they are now supplying my fathers energy!

How is this possible???? My parents are very worried and very angry at the situation. Can someone please advise how to deal with this matter? Do I follow the same lines of complaint as a mis sold energy policy?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Bee

    Hi Bee,

It sounds like the supplier has been taken over in error, this is called an erroneous transfer.

This can happen if a customer changing supplier give incorrect info, or there is some wrong info on the national database.

First of all, I would contact E.ON and double check they are taking over the supply, especially as you haven't received a welcome pack or any info.

You can then request an ET to be raised, this means your supply will go back to your preferred supplier as if you had never left them.

I hope this help you a little.

    Thanks

    Helena :)
