Weird Request - Thank you letter for Bonus?

I agree with some of the other posters - a letter is overkill.
No-one gets a bonus just because their managers are nice people - they've given you a bonus because they want to keep you happy and on their team. Just the cost of recruiting someone to replace you (just interviewing time and that's without factoring in agency fees) may cost more than your bonus! Then factor in the lost productivity in getting someone up to speed which costs money too.
Your managers have given you a bonus because you're more valuable than the others that didn't get a bonus. If you send them a thank you letter you'll look like someone who doesn't value your own hard work and skills and your managers will think they don't need to try as hard to keep you happy!0 -
I'd try and keep it simple, next time your speaking to them say thing like; thanks for the bonus it helped me pay off my credit card or I treated other half to a meal out at the weekend.
Your bosses gave bonuses to select people, if writing a letter could spill the beans that you got a bonus when others didn't I would be careful.
If you really want to send a letter then I think Vaders proforma is simple but effective.0
