Hi folks....

I am in a dilemma ..... I am about to buy some memory probably GSkill PC6400 2GB 4-4-4-12 for 177quid. Then I saw some GSkill PC6400 2GB (5-5-5-15) for 125quid. Will I notice the 50quid difference????? Processor x23800 (intended overclock).... mb ASUS AM2 M2SLI32.

Advice appreciated...... Jules

You need to look at the momory clock speed as well.

    See:

Not a very conclusive article but hard info on this is hard to find. It's helped me make my mind up anyway. I'll go for the CL4 memory I think as the article indicates at least a 5% performance increase over the CL5. (The system I am building costs around 1700quid so 50quid for 5% performance gain is money well spent I think!).

Thanks for the article though it did help in a roundabout kind of way.

Or is the answer more obvious ..... 15 clock cycles to read a data block for CL5 and 12 cl. cycles for CL4 that theoretically means that the CL4 memory should be 25% faster.????? Maybe other bottlenecks limit this as the article indicates as real world gains appear to be much less.
