Easter Gifts/Egg subsitutes!

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of home-made/old style gifts etc that you intended to give at easter. I have a ridiculous amount of close friends/relatives that would each require an easter egg (children mainly) but as finances would have it we can't stretch to a commercial/shop-bought easter egg for everyone.
What does everyone else do?

They're not OS but I noticed that Aldi had some nice choc rabbits about 10 inches tall for 69P. Maybe they'd fit the budget?£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0

I buy a selection of small chocolate eggs to hide in the garden for my three kids but that's it for Easter.
Gifts are for Christmas and birthdays in our household not Easter, Valentine's, Mothering Sunday, Halloween, or even wedding anniveraries.
If you are obliged to give something then I would go with little cakes or rice krispie cakes.0 -
how about printing off some easter pic's to colour in of the web, or some ginger biscuits decorated as easter eggs.
you could opt for the decorated blown or boiled egg.
I would just just say to the parents your not doing easter this year, most kids end up with way to many, someone is bound to start a how do we use up easter eggs thread.

Good to see someone else (and another non-believer at that
) keeping Mothering Sunday rather than Mother's Day :T When do we make the Simnel cake?

and that's traditionally when we make simnel cake, it's supposed to be a gift for mothers (very OS), but nowadays people seem to have them at Easter. 0 -
Hi,
My youngest daughter is giving a sunflower seedling to a couple of her friends, she is decorating the pots with some easter cut outs.
These are cheap & easy to do, and the children will have something to look after in the coming months.
I have learnt my lesson with my oldest daughter don't start giving gifts to school friends for easter & xmas, it costs a fortune over the years and becomes difficult to stop.
Best of luck

I can vouch for the Aldi rabbits, I got one last year and they are yummy. Another idea is buying creme eggs and knitting a simple little chick to put on top, like a tea cosy for a creme egg! I got one of these a few years ago, I loved it and still have the knitted chick. My son made a bunny out of half a loo roll at nursery last year. Paper ears stuck on the top, a cotton wool ball on the bum and a face and paws drawn on the front. Then a creme egg popped inside!Aug 2017 GC Budget £1800
