Sure can vicki:) its very effective and you only need a thin layer in fact a thicker layer will just, as you say, crack and look rubbish or when you put your foundation on it will come off in kind of little balls, again not a good look, so one thin layer is enough, if you really feel you need more two thin layers would be best, can I just ask what it is you think the milk will do for your blackheads? it might physically cover them a bit but it wont help them at all, if you have the dreaded things there are a couple of other things you can try that are cheap and effective and kind of natural, let me know if you need anymore advice:)

  • Hi! I also have combo skin and have found that the Mac studio foundation works really well, and also that my skin tone in general evened out if i used the exfoliating brush from the Bodyshop. Also, I don't know if you guys do, but I get horribly dry skin across the top of my arms and have been working with Vaseline trying out thier new Sheer Infusions moisturiser - it has actually worked wonders (released feb 1st, only £4.99!). As for my face, I find the very light spf15 nivea moisturiser is good -not too greasy. Hope this helps! x

I'd be very interested in hearing what you suggest for blackheads, please :)

I would recommend two things, one long term thing to try would be the OCM, its not right for everyone and it might take some experimentation to get the mix right but its worth persevering the other and probably the most effective thing for me is an asprin mask, another odd sounding procedure but there is a science bit behind it. Take a few asprin not the disolvable ones, crush them to a fine powder and mix with a little water, apply to the area with blackheads, in my case it was my nose, or even to a single stubborn one and leave the paste to dry then wash off, depending on the severity of the problem you should see a difference in one application but the real benefits come a few applications down the line. I had bad blackheads from when I had acne as a young teenager they were still there and I'm in my early 40s now however doing this and the OCM (I do the asprin about twice a week) has cleared them. The sceiency bit is that asprin contains salysilic (sp?) acid which just melts away dirt clogged in pores, again if you look at products you can buy for blackheads, oily skin you will see this ingredient somewhere on the list, all your doing is cutting out the middleman;)and saving cash and being in control of dosage. There is a huge thread on here detailing the OCM and if you google asprin mask you should find more info on that too - hth:)

Thanks Glowgirl, I tried the OCM but I have hormonal acne from my Mirena and it made it flare up terribly, I tried it for a whole month as I knew I needed to give it a chance but at th end of the month my acne was really deep and cystic. Took ages to go back to normal bad skin.
I put the M of M on as a mask as it's supposed to dry, tighten and lift them out a bit. Read that tip on this forum, I don't really think it did much but it does make my pores feel a little smaller.
I do the asprin mask too!
The only thing so far that's helped me somewhat is Lush Fresh Pharmacy and COal FAce soap, and better still is Neals Yard Palmarosa Face Wash, I think the harsh chemicals in specific acne washes were making it worse.

I am sure that it will all be OK when I have the coil out but won't do that until I finish breastfeeding. grrr.

Any other skin suggestions much appreciated. xx

Hmmmm, hormonal skin problems are the worst:( I feel its easily the worst to get under control and so many treatments just don't work, obviuosly the trick is get the hormones under control (I struggle with this myself a lot) on another thread on here Belfastgirl suggested Evening Primrose oil or Starflower oil, I wonder if taking a dose of these would help you until you have the coil out (bet your counting the days...) I can vouch for EPO helping with the hormones but it did not do my skin any favours spots wise although the texture and quality (I have a bounce factor:D) was very much improved. Something else that I have learned from these boards is that us with sensitive skin would do well to stay away from mineral oil based products mainly moisturisers, this generally means buying better quality and more expensive creams as mineral oil is a cheap ingredient for lots of creams but even if you pay more its still important to read the label, as far as I undestand you should avoid ingredients such as lanolin, glycerin there are some other names I cant remember, good luck:)

Thanks Glowgirl, I'd heard that about mineral oils, I'm trying to cut out as much as possible, I need to check up the names like you say and read the ingredients.
Will start taking EPO, I have some upstairs so will see what that does.
    Thanks Again xx
