Moss fallen from gutter (birds?)

We've got some little bits of moss that have fallen from our gutters presumably. Maybe about 10 pieces at the front of the house along quite a long wall. My neighbour pointed it out. We are thinking maybe it was in the gutter and that the birds might have knocked it out. We got the gutters cleaned about 2 years ago (max), wondering if we need them cleaned again already? Can't see anything from ground level at all, and too high to get up there to look.

Are you sure that heavy rain hasn't just brought it down from the roof?
I used to get this in my old house as one side of the roof didn't get much sun. When we had a really heavy downpour, the rain used to bring it down, the gutters would fill up too quickly to drain and the moss got washed straight onto the drive.
You need to watch your gutters don't get blocked though - as moss and leaves are the usual cuprits for this. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

It'll be birds they find worms and bugs in there... it could be from the roof itself we get a little bit from the roof and the garage roof too.. but as long as the rain runs down ok I don't worry about it.. if your gutters start overflowing thats the time to worry...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Gutters need checking at least once a year (more if you are downwind of a lot of trees).
It's no big deal and we find a quick check every 6 months (once in spring and again in autumn) keeps them clear all the time. It is a very quick check too - Just near the downpipes to remove stuff that has washed down before it backs up and causes a problem. Been doing this for six or seven years now and have never had to have the 'gutters cleaned' in all that time.0 -
We find that the local jackdaws are responsible for bringing down great big clods of moss - they fight over it so there must be something juicy in it!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

I often find big pieces of moss on our decking, it tend sto come down after a storm or windy day. I think it bounces down the roof so that it often 'jumps' over the guttering. I would rather that it fell onto the ground than get stuck in the gutters.0

Yes, it's that time of year for nesting I think. I always have chunks out the front of my house on the floor from the birds pulling it from the gutter. At least they make use of some of it.0

Lumps of moss from the garage roof are a regular feature on my back path. Obviously birds doing it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
