I've finally grown up

Not particularly debt related, but never mind (although it is I suppose in a way because I will eventually be able to earn more money hopefully!).

I've taken responsibility for the rest of my life today.

After years of being in admin jobs, but always wanting and knowing I can do more, I've bitten the bullet and signed up today for a Law course. Just a basic GCSE to start off with, but it's a start. Things aren't going to fall in my lap, I have to make things happen. It's about time I started doing something with my life, instead of vegging out in my jamas on my days off.

I was looking at Health or Accounting, but I've always been interested in Law and in fact started a course a few years ago, but didn't keep up with it. I figured that I would get bored with numbers, so Law it is. It's only a year, so if I find it's not for me, I will still come out of it with another GCSE and I can always do something else after it. And if it is for me, I can carry on to a higher level.

Someone said on here the other day words to the effect of 'this is your life, it's not a practice run, this is it' - and they were right.

If you want to do something, go for it - life goes by so quickly, if you don't grasp the opportunities when they arise, you will miss them.

There, that's my deep and meaningful for the day, now I'm off to crack open a cold one.

    Well done Mrs Arkwright :T

I think further education is a fantastic thing, I've always been one for doing random courses (I did a course on rocks with the OU once!!)

Really hope you enjoy it, and possibly find a career at the end of it :)

    Good for you! :T

That's such a positive step, to be doing something to move forward rather than standing still. Education's never a waste - even if you find the subject's not for you.

    Best of luck :D

...I've taken responsibility for the rest of my life today........ I've bitten the bullet and signed up today for a Law course........
I was looking at Health or Accounting:beer:

Well done you.......I keep thinking I should get off my backside again and do something....been about 1.5 years since I last did a course......accounting as it happens (2.5 years Accounting Technicians course).......still haven't signed up to be a 'member' so I can have 'letters after my name'.....don't really see the point if I can't remember any of it! Been swapping and changing my mind about doing a chartered accountancy qualification.......I think I've had enough now!!

I'm at that crossroads (and have been since before I finished AAT) were you want to do something important (don't know what) and meaningful (again..don't know what..)....but don't want the whopping drop in salary that may bring...........

I thought I'd update my PC skills and bought the advanced ECDL set....a year ago:o :o:o I think I got to page 12 in the excel book:o .....a BIG KICK UP THE BOTTOM REQUIRED HERE!!!!

Best of luck with your course...I'm sure you will have more umph than me!!

That will be the biggest challenge, keeping up with it and not losing interest - keeping my 'umph' as it were. So I no doubt will be on here asking for a kick up the !!!!!! every now and again. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be my study days, so if you see me on here, give me a telling off. My trouble is, I'm too easily distracted by UKTV Gold :D Damn you, Des Taviner off The Bill!
