247 spares/DHL - DON'T TOUCH WITH A BARGEPOLE!!

To cut a long story short, I made the mistake of ordering a part from a supplier through 247 spares. Stupidly, I did so without researching the company first. Here's my story -

Got a couple of quotes from 247 spares and found one which I thought was pretty good value for money. I ordered it last Thursday and paid for it by debit card over the phone as normal. I paid for 'next-day delivery'. So by Tuesday (yesterday) I was beginning to wonder where the part had got to I tracked it using DHL's tracking system and it said 'out for delivery' from the Monday at 12.07. No further updates. So I call DHL to chase and they tell me that it should have arrived but that it should definitely arrive by the end of the day. The end of the day comes, and, surprise surprise, no part. I had ordered the part to arrive at the garage where my car is waiting to be fixed. The garage confirmed that no part had arrived.

Today - I call the garage and still no part. I called DHL who said that someone had signed for the package on Monday night at 8.10 using my surname!!!! I certainly didn't do so and neither did the garage!!! DHL said that I needed to get the company I ordered the part from to call them to track where it had gone. I called the company who said that they'd call DHL and 'call me back'. 3 hours go by and no phone call! I called the company again who then said 'we'll call DHL and call you back'. I informed them that they had said this already and I was still waiting!!! Another 2 hours go by and I call yet AGAIN. I was then told 'Well love, I'll give you a refund as we don't have another part in stock'. I asked when they would give me the refund and they said 'Friday morning'. I then said 'Will you call.........' That was as far as I got before they slammed the phone down on me :mad::mad:

I have never been so angry in my life. Their customer service is horrendous and DHL aren't much better. Don't think I'll see my refund but even if I do, I've wasted a whole week waiting for a part that was 'next day delivery' (which, I might add, I paid extra for)!

Grrrrr!!!!

Chase DHL for a signature of the person who accepted part.
    It should be available.

247 spares probably didn't call as they were probably waiting for DHL to call back. But DHL's customer service is poor so they probably had to keep calling them.

so can we expect an update, was 247 at fault was DHL at fault, what actually happened?, can we expect an apology for perhaps "slagging off" a perfectly reliable company when the fault lay somewhere else?

No information as to what went wrong. On DHL's tracking system this morning, it stated as delivered and signed for by a different surname. I called the garage to confirm and the part was indeed there. I can only assume that the DHL driver arrived the first time, there was no-one there and so signed for the package themselves and decided to deliver it later. Still no excuse for not updating me as to what was happening with it. And also, why did it sit in a van/car/wherever for 2 whole days before being delivered again. 'next day delivery'....hmmmmmm

  • I've been stung too - £750 - ordered a part through international car spares via 247 spares. promised a refund for a month - emailed both them and 247 and phoned them - totally ignored.

247 - totally disgusted with your level of help and as for International Car Spares these people are just plain lying.

What do i do about it - seeing as i live in scotland but they are based in England. ?
  • Hi CM,

Don't really have a reasonable answer for you but didn't want to just read and run. Who have you spoken to at 247 spares? Did you pay by Debit/Credit card? Is it possible for you to go through a dispute with your bank?

Just a suggestion, but like I say, I don't know how you could resolve this.

Hope you get your money back soon. It's disgusting!
