Yahh for Samsung/Olliesdad!

Purchased a 42" Samsung television in Jan 2008 - lots of money to us, a joint birthday/xmas/new house present to each other!

Obviously gutted when it developed a fault in September 2009 when the picture became distorted and took over 1/2 hr to settle each time.

Contacted Dixons, who we bought it from, but they wanted an engineers report and the only place we could find was some 50+ miles away and they wanted a £99 + VAT for the report and we would have to take it there and bring it back and they were only open during the week when both of us were at work. :(

Worse still, based on my purchase, I had authorised purchase of 5 further units for my work place so was a little nervous that mine only lasted less than 2 years.

I asked for some advice here and Olliesdad gave me a contact name at Samsung, who I contacted with my story.

Yesterday, I had a replacement screen fitted without leaving the house, free of charge. The cost of the replacement part alone was £400 (the parts invoice was in the packaging) without the engineers time.

Well Done Samsung! Outstanding service! Thank you Olliesdad for the tip off!
